Fremantle Prison was built to accommodate Imperial convicts in 1855 and became the State’s maximum security prison until its closure in 1991. It is WA’s only World Heritage cultural site.

Griffiths Architects won the 2011 Architecture Award for Heritage.

Griffiths Architects have been involved with planning, conservation, adaptation and interpretation projects at Fremantle Prison since its closure and development as a tourist site.
