Griffiths Architects have been involved in various projects to the Terrace houses at the Fremantle Prison over a number of years.

Works have included renewing the landscape frontages and perimeter walls, adapting the terraces for Air Conditioning installation, conservation and repair work to the existing verandahs and refurbishing existing kitchen facilities.

Our approach has enabled the buildings to meet contemporary needs and requirements whilst also conserving the original heritage fabric of the place. The buildings currently provide office accommodation for a number of companies.

Fremantle Prison has been a significant presence in the City of Fremantle for 150 years. The limestone walled and landscaped gardens overlook the town, flanking the centrally placed main gate entry gates and provide a memorable face to the public institution.
