The challenge was to conserve and adapt the 10 heritage listed cottages to meet current accommodation requirements and provide a further 6 units on the site. The site is constrained by area and topography which led to a split level design outcome to better integrate with the site. The site was developed to provide amenities and breakout areas to support communal interaction between residents.
The outcome is a vastly improved presentation to Queen Victoria Unit, 16 high quality accommodation units and the conservation of a significant place.
