In The Architects' Words:
The beach house is a two storey house with undercroft parking. It has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, pool room, study, kitchen, pantry, bathroom for guests, dining and living rooms. It is designed for relaxed living and for the enjoyment of extraordinary views to the north and west. While the bedrooms and bathrooms are designed to be good standard provisions, the living room, dining room and verandahs are capacious, since these are the focus spaces for relaxed living.
The place was designed to be light and bright with minimalist lines. The external concept was to move away from the timber hand crafted look of much of Yallingup and to have a more hard-edged, strong and simple lined solution. Most importantly, the place was designed to capture its location and purpose - a seaside holiday home. The curved roof allowed the top floor level to push up into the view lines while the roof’s top point remained within height limits.
With its perimeter plantings of Meleleuca lanciolata the place blends in with its context when read from anywhere outside the lot boundary.
